Recent studies have shown that people brush their teeth much better, if they are taking selfies during this process. Generally, people take selfies in order to get more likes on the social networks. And this habit can improve condition of your teeth! Recently scientists from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine have found that people brush their teeth much better if they use smartphones.
Despite the fact that we live in the world full of information, some people still have poor teeth brushing technique. This poor quality of teeth cleaning may cause some dental diseases. However, when people have possibility to check their technique in the process of teeth brushing, they have an opportunity to work on their mistakes.
This experiment involved a group of people who had poor teeth brushing technique. The researches helped them to improve this technique in the following way: they asked participants of experiment to record videos and take selfies during everyday teeth brushing. Then scientists made an analysis of the received data considering such indicators as the technical aspects of teeth brushing, durability and intensity of cleaning procedures. As a result, teeth brushing technique of the participants have been improved by 8%.
According to a senior instructor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine and co-author of this study, Lars Vernon, many people are concerned about the quality of dental hygiene. However, purpose of this study was to identify how modern technologies, particularly smartphones, can improve oral health on a daily basis. In addition, with modern technologies, patients have an opportunity to receive prompt advises from their dentists.
